Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery is a hidden gem in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin. It includes a full espresso bar, fresh baked goods, and deli items from West Campus based Fricano’s Deli.

Quack’s has been on my ATX bucket list for some time now. Seeing that it was a five minute drive from MARU on Burnet, we stopped by for more dessert. Quack’s smells like a traditional bakery: swirls of coffee with drops of sugar and fresh pastries. Not only do you feel like a child looking at the cookie options but the notes of coffee reminds you are an adult celebrating the local “ma and pop” shop.

I got a mitten cookie to celebrate the holiday season. The mitten cookie was not too sweet and not like a hockey puck, a major plus for me. You can taste the sugar but it didn’t overpower your taste buds. One of my friends went all out on the pastries, getting croissants, danishes and pretty sure a muffin. He saved those for later as his lunch was making him fall into borderline food coma. My other friend got a fruit pastry, some tea cookies, and an iced tea. She enjoyed the iced tea and absolutely loved the tea cookies, also noting it was not overtly sweet.

Quack's 43rd Street Bakery is located on 11 E 43rd St, Austin, TX 78751
